What Is TOFEL?
The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is an international standardized test that measures the ability of non-native English speakers to use and understand English in academic settings.
It is widely accepted by universities, colleges, and institutions in over 150 countries, including the United States, Canada, the UK, Australia, and Europe.
TOEFL Test Structure
Reading (54–72 minutes | 30–40 questions)
Academic passages from university-level textbooks.
Tests comprehension, vocabulary, and inference skills.
Listening (41–57 minutes | 28–39 questions)
Includes lectures, classroom discussions, and conversations.
Tests ability to understand main ideas, details, and speaker attitude.
Speaking (17 minutes | 4 tasks)
1 independent task: Express opinion on a familiar topic.
3 integrated tasks: Read/listen, then speak in response.
Responses recorded and scored by AI + human raters.
Writing (50 minutes | 2 tasks)
Integrated Task: Read a passage, listen to a lecture, and write a summary.
Independent Task: Write an essay expressing an opinion or argument.
TOFEL Scoring
Each section: 0–30 points.Total score: 0–120 points.
Scores are valid for 2 years.
Test is offered 60+ times per year worldwide.
Cost: $185–$250 (varies by country).
